HOW MUCH DO YEEZY SHOES COST?

How much do Yeezy shoes really cost, and how do the expensive resale prices even make sense? You and I will discuss these questions together in this blog post, where you will hopefully learn more about Yeezy on the resale market.

Yeezy through time

Most people probably think of the collaboration between Adidas and Kanye West when they talk about Yeezy shoes, plus they're some of the most expensive sneakers you can buy. It makes sense, too, because they're pretty much the only ones you can come close to buying with an average income.

However, Kanye, also known as Ye and Yeezy, has been making sneakers with big brands long before he teamed up with Adidas.

Here is a short story.

Extremely limited work with Nike

Ye's first sneaker collaboration was with Nike when his first album "The College Dropout" was released. At some unknown time between 2005 and 2006, the first Nike Air Max 180 featuring Ye's bear mascot was released. 

Together with Nike, Ye has created several concept and sample models, which have never been made into more than very small collections.

The most famous shoes from his time with Nike will undoubtedly be the Nike Air Yeezy 2 from 2014, which also became the rapper's last collaboration with the iconic sportswear giant.

From Nike to Adidas

From the failed collaboration with Nike — plus some small collabs with Bape and Reebok — emerged the Yeezy brand as we know it today.

Shortly after the collaboration with Nike ended, the first of the Yeezy shoes Adidas was going to produce landed.

The first to hit stores was the Yeezy Boost 750. A futuristic high-top sneaker with a sole that had never been seen before. The iconic Boost sole.

Model number two is one of the most sought-after, iconic and expensive sneakers you can get your hands on today, which bears the name Yeezy. The first Yeezy Boozt 350 also called Turtle Dove.

Turtle Dove was the first big hit Yeezy Denmark noticed, and the shoe had people lining up for days in front of every sneaker store that had gotten the shoe.

And the rest is history.

Since Yeezy hit Denmark, the brand and the collaboration have only grown until it recently completely burned down.

Yeezy Slide

The minimalist and iconic Yeezy slide first hit the market in December 2019. The Yeezy slide is probably one of the most affordable shoes adidas has made with Ye, which has contributed to the sandal being ripped off the shelves time and time again.

The cool thing about the design is the minimalism and the classic touch that clashes with innovative thinking in materials and soles.

Yeezy Foam Runner

This model is totally “love it or hate it.” The Yeezy foam runner first came out the year after the Yeezy slide, in 2020. The Yeezy Foam was the starting point for some of the most experimental models we’ve seen from the collaboration.

That's why the shoe has been so controversial. Some hate the shoe for not being practical enough, but we at Sneakerzone love it for being completely unique.

Yeezy 700

This is a shoe that has had a life of its own and will undoubtedly become a true classic. The Yeezy 700 has a V1, V2 and V3 model. All versions speak to us in their own way, but with the same DNA.

How much do Yeezy shoes cost - the meaning behind the prices

After Yeezy and Adidas ended their collaboration, Adidas announced that they expect to lose a billion USD in revenue by 2023.

It's still unclear which shoes Adidas will make that money from. However, the statement says something about how big a part of Adidas' brand Yeezy has been in the 8 years the collaboration has been going on.

Prices from the manufacturer

Ye's purpose in producing sneakers has always been that everyone should be able to get their hands on a pair of Yeezys.

It also seems like just about everyone wanted a pair, because the shoes have been snapped up every time there's been a release.

Customers who have been lucky enough to get a pair of Yeezy slides haven't had to part with nearly as much as they would on the resale market.

The resale market

The shoes have been ripped off the shelves, and a lot of people are left without a pair of Yeezys. What does that mean?

That the demand is far greater than the supply.

And when the demand for the shoes is so enormous, there will always be opportunities for honest companies, private collectors and, unfortunately, also scammers and fraudsters to make money.

This is because there are often not as many produced at that end of the spectrum. The same way — and even wilder — it works with the very large and iconic shoes, such as the Turtle Dove, which made Adidas/Yeezy explode. If you have a pair of them, from the very beginning, then you are sitting on a gold mine.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to give exact prices for a pair of Yeezys on the resale market. The only thing you can look at are estimates, due to a moving and fast market.
